Trump’s Proposal on Hamas Peace Talks
On Sunday evening, just before a peace proposal deadline, former President Donald Trump took to social media to address the situation with Hamas. The deadline, which was set for 6 PM, loomed as Trump shared his optimistic views on the potential for a resolution.
In his message posted on True Society, he mentioned, “There has been a very positive debate with Hamas.” According to Trump, there was a global sentiment this weekend—across Arab and Muslim communities, among others—for releasing hostages and bringing an end to the conflict in Gaza. He emphasized the long-standing pursuit of peace in the Middle East.
“These consultations have been quite successful and are moving ahead swiftly,” Trump commented. He noted that technical discussions would continue in Egypt on Monday to finalize details.
Furthermore, he indicated that the initial phase of the peace plan “should be completed this week.”
Potential Impact of Trump’s Peace Deal
Trump urged, “I’m asking everyone to speed up the process. Time is of the essence, or else we could face significant bloodshed—something that nobody wants to see!” He previously set the deadline on October 3, highlighting the urgency for Hamas to accept the proposal. He warned, “If we arrive at this last-minute agreement, the reaction against Hamas will be unprecedented.”
He also expressed, “There is some form of peace in the Middle East. Thank you for your awareness of this issue!”
The peace proposal, announced by Trump in late September, outlines crucial steps such as halting Israeli military operations, disarming Hamas, and reconstructing the Gaza Strip under a Palestinian governing body, supervised by the US and the United Nations.
Reports indicate that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Trump have reached a consensus on a 20-point plan moving forward.
