Trump Calls for ‘Thorough Inquiry’ Into Celebrity Backing and Concerts of Harris Campaign

Trump Calls for Investigation into Kamala Harris’ Campaign Payments

President Donald Trump has demanded a “major investigation” into the way former Vice President Kamala Harris funded popular artists for her campaign rallies. This comes after he criticized her star-studded campaign events leading up to last November’s election.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump mentioned several celebrities who participated in Harris’s campaign, including Bruce Springsteen, Beyoncé, Oprah Winfrey, and Bono from U2. He questioned the legality of payments made to these artists.

“HOW MUCH DID KAMALA HARRIS PAY BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN FOR HIS POOR PERFORMANCE DURING HER CAMPAIGN FOR PRESIDENT?” Trump asked, using all caps to emphasize his point. He further questioned Springsteen’s integrity, asking, “WHY DID HE ACCEPT THAT MONEY IF HE IS SUCH A FAN OF HERS?”

“I am going to call for a major investigation into this matter,” he stated, labeling it “a CORRUPT & UNLAWFUL way to capitalize on a broken system.”

This investigation call follows Harris’s endorsements from several high-profile stars after she entered the race last July, following the departure of former President Joe Biden.

Celebrities like Katy Perry and Megan Thee Stallion performed at events to encourage voter turnout. For instance, Springsteen took the stage at a rally at Temple University, while Beyoncé appeared at a Houston rally but didn’t perform, leading to disappointment among fans.

Trump criticized the initiative as “a very expensive and desperate effort to artificially build up her sparse crowds. IT’S NOT LEGAL!” He called the actions of “unpatriotic entertainers” a “CORRUPT & UNLAWFUL way to capitalize on a broken system.”

Moreover, Oprah Winfrey introduced Harris the night before the election in Philadelphia. Reports subsequently surfaced, suggesting Harris had paid Winfrey’s production company $1 million for this engagement, a claim the Harris camp denied.

Federal Election Commission regulations stipulate that campaigns must pay fair market value for any additional costs related to performances, including wages for band members and other personnel. However, an FEC representative previously indicated there’s no law prohibiting payment for political endorsements.

In the end, Trump secured a significant victory, winning the popular vote and reclaiming the presidency.
