Trump calls off scheduled attacks on Iran, points to a possible agreement

Trump shares his true thoughts as unscripted moments irritate the GOP

President Trump Cancels Planned Attack on Iran

President Donald Trump announced on Thursday that he would call off attacks against Iran, stating that a deal with the country is expected to be finalized soon. This decision came just hours after he had threatened military action amid ongoing tense negotiations.

“Given that discussions have escalated to the highest levels of Iranian leadership and received approval, I have canceled this evening’s planned attack,” Trump shared on Truth Social.

He mentioned that the final details were agreed upon by multiple parties including the United States, Israel, Saudi Arabia, and several others in the region.

Despite halting attacks, Trump emphasized that the U.S. naval blockade of Iranian ports in the Strait of Hormuz will remain in full force until the agreement is finalized. This area is vital for global shipping, with a significant percentage of the world’s oil and natural gas passing through.

This abrupt shift in stance came after Trump had accused Iran of prolonging nuclear negotiations and had made threats about retaliating against them for targeting U.S. helicopters. Earlier, Trump had declared that the U.S. military was prepared to strike Iran “very hard tonight.” Iranian officials, in return, warned against making impulsive decisions that could escalate tensions further.

There are indications from operational analysts that if negotiations break down, the U.S. may swiftly target Iran’s military capabilities, starting with missile systems and naval assets before potentially moving to more sensitive targets.

Amidst these developments, Trump remarked that even though they are close to reaching an agreement, he feels Iran is “managing us” and “playing with us.”
