Trump Urges GOP to Release Epstein Files
President Donald Trump is calling on Congressional Republicans to back the release of the Jeffrey Epstein documents. He voiced this on Truth Social, referencing a previous statement made while aboard Air Force One.
“As I said on Friday night to the Fake News Media, House Republicans should vote to release the Epstein files because we have nothing to hide. It’s time to move on from this Democrat Hoax perpetrated by Radical Left Lunatics to deflect attention from the Republican Party’s successes, including our recent victory over the Democrat ‘Shutdown.’”
He suggested that if Democrats had anything damaging about him, they would have unveiled it during the election campaign.
“Nobody cared about Jeffrey Epstein when he was alive, and if Democrats had anything, they would have released it before our Landslide Election Victory.”
Instead, Trump wants to shift discussions back to the GOP’s outstanding achievements this year.
“Let’s start talking about the Republican Party’s Record Setting Achievements, and not fall into the Epstein ‘TRAP,’ which is actually a curse on the Democrats, not us. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
The House is set to vote on releasing additional documents soon. Despite the Oversight Committee having shared tens of thousands of Epstein-related files, Congressman Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) expressed that he’s not satisfied with the current level of transparency.
Massie believes he will have support from several House Republicans when the resolution comes to a vote.
“I think we could have a deluge of Republicans voting for the Epstein files release,” he noted. “There could be 100 or more. I’m hoping for a veto-proof majority when this legislation comes up.”
So far, only three Republicans—Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.), and Nancy Mace (R-S.C.)—have signed the petition to force a House vote.
“I don’t care about it. Released or not,” Trump stated regarding the files. “If you’re going to do it, you need to investigate Epstein’s friends. I was never on that island. Bill Clinton supposedly went there 28 times. Look into that.”
The president has frequently criticized Massie and Democrats over the Epstein files, while also pointing out that over 20,000 documents have already been released by the House Oversight Committee.
“I think they have 50,000 pages already. This is a Democrat hoax, and a few weak Republicans have gone along with it.”
The vote for more document releases is scheduled for Tuesday, but Massie may encounter challenges. Earlier in the year, Senate Republicans blocked an amendment from Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) that sought to compel the Department of Justice to release the remaining files.
It remains uncertain if the Senate will react similarly if Massie’s resolution passes the House.
