Trump campaign confirms former president is ‘fine’ after apparent assassination attempt

President Donald Trump was speaking to a packed audience at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on Saturday when multiple gunshots rang out. Midway through speaking about the impact of illegal immigration, Trump crouched down and clutched the right side of his head, and US Secret Service agents rushed to his aid from behind the podium.

The crowd sitting behind Trump similarly took cover, while some simply looked on in disbelief. A bloody but defiant Trump pumped his fist over a line of Secret Service officers and repeatedly shouted “Fight!” before being escorted off the stage and towards an SUV.

Anthony Guglielmi, a spokesman for the U.S. Secret Service, said: Confirmed Shortly after the incident, it was announced that “Secret Service had implemented protective measures and the former president was safe.”

Stephen Chan, spokesman for President Trump Shown Trump said he thanked “the law enforcement and emergency responders who acted swiftly during this heinous act.”

Chang said Trump was “in good spirits and is undergoing testing at a local medical facility. More details will be released at a later date.”
