A program that publishes the full text of the interview.

“60 Minutes just admitted that they did the exact same thing that President Trump accused them of. They made Kamala Harris sound more incoherent than she really is by changing from one part of her answer to another. Edited response. Their statement is not a denial; it is an admission that they did what they were accused of. “This is yet another reminder of how hopelessly biased 60 Minutes is, and how right President Trump was in declining the invitation to be the subject of a fake news hack. Release the record!”

CBS News did not immediately respond to a request Monday whether it would release the transcript. Since the controversy began, the network has ignored calls to release transcripts and unedited footage.

After weeks of silence despite growing backlash over the interview, CBS issued a statement Sunday evening addressed the outrage that erupted after a “60 Minutes” interview earlier this month with the Democratic candidate aired two different answers to the same question. The show said former President Trump's claims that the show misled viewers were “false.”

“Former President Donald Trump is accusing 60 Minutes of deceptively editing his Oct. 7 interview with Vice President Kamala Harris. That is false,” the statement began.

When we edit interviews with politicians, athletes, movie stars, etc., we strive to be clear, accurate, and to the point. The statement continued: “The long-standing invitation to former President Trump remains open.” “If he would like to discuss issues facing the country or the interview with Mr. Harris, he would be happy to appear on 60 Minutes.”

'60 Minutes' under fire for editorial decision by Kamala Harris' has a history of liberal controversy'

The saga began earlier this month when CBS News aired two different answers to the same question in Harris' “60 Minutes” interview.

Harris originally appeared on Bill Whitaker when footage of her offering a long “word salad” was aired on CBS' “Face the Nation” and on social media to promote the “60 Minutes” sit-in. When he asked why, he was ridiculed by conservatives on social media. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu didn't seem to be listening to the US.

However, the vice president's lengthy answer did not make it into the version that aired in prime time on “60 Minutes,” and Harris' short answer to the same question aired instead.

CBS News has since faced criticism. Some believe CBS News used a more flattering clip of Harris answering questions after backlash to the original version.
