Trump Can Rightfully Claim He 'Protected the Border'

Former DHS Secretary Discusses Border Issues on Fox News

During an appearance on Fox News Channel’s “Fox & Friends,” former Department of Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson stated that if President Trump claimed he had secured the border, it would be a valid assertion.

In a conversation about the arrest of Iranian individuals, co-host Lawrence Jones raised the question of whether this situation reflected the failures of the Biden administration’s border policies.

Johnson responded by expressing concern over the presence of undocumented immigrants, particularly those with connections to Hezbollah, suggesting that this situation warrants attention from domestic law enforcement. He indicated that it was likely law enforcement agencies were monitoring these individuals in relation to their contacts within the U.S.

Later in the discussion, co-host Brian Kilmeade referenced Johnson’s previous distress over border conditions and inquired if he had ever known numbers as low as those reported when Trump was in office. Kilmeade pointed out that the recent figures had ballooned to about 12,000 individuals per month, contrasting this with lower numbers during the previous administration. He recalled how President Reagan had highlighted the need for bipartisan cooperation to address immigration reform, implying that such efforts were necessary to rectify an outdated system.
