Trump Warns of Serious Consequences for Russia Over Ukraine War
President Donald Trump has issued a stark warning to Russia, implying there would be “very serious consequences” if the country doesn’t agree to end its involvement in the Ukraine conflict. This statement came after a meeting last Friday in Alaska.
Ahead of his sit-down with Vladimir Putin in Anchorage, Trump expressed his concerns on Wednesday. When asked by a reporter about potential repercussions, he responded, “Yes, it will happen. There will be consequences.” However, he opted not to elaborate on what those consequences might entail, simply stating, “I don’t need to say; there will be very serious consequences.”
It seems that Trump’s relationship with Putin is becoming strained, particularly as he attempts to find a resolution to the ongoing war in Ukraine.
Trump also reflected on their past conversations, questioning whether Putin might actually halt the bombing of Ukrainian civilians. He recounted, “What do I say to you? I had that conversation with him. I had a lot of good conversations with him, and I went home and either Rocket was attacked by a nursing home, Rocket attacked an apartment building and people are dying on the street.”
Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated earlier that day there were “no indications” that Russia is ready to establish peace. He emphasized that the collaborative efforts of Ukraine, the U.S., Europe, and other nations committed to peace could compel Russia to reconsider its stance.
Zelensky concluded, “There is no indication that the Russians are currently preparing to end the war,” suggesting that continued unified pressure could be vital in achieving a resolution.
