President Trump issued a warning to voters in New Jersey on Monday morning, claiming that the Democratic gubernatorial candidate, Rep. Mikie Sherrill, would worsen crime and increase energy costs across the state.
In a series of posts on Truth Social, he criticized Sherrill along with Virginia Democrat Abigail Spanberger, calling for voters to lean towards Republican candidates.
“Why would anyone vote for candidates like Sherrill and Spanberger? They support policies that would lead to high crime rates and soaring energy prices,” he questioned.
Trump urged voters to choose Republican options for significant reductions in energy expenses, taxes, and a return to common sense in governance.
He asserted, “Under my leadership, gas prices would drop to around $2 a gallon, while under the Democrats, you might be looking at $4, $5, or even $6 a gallon. Other energy costs would also spike.”
He emphasized that voters in New Jersey and beyond could enjoy a “great, very affordable life” if Republicans were successful at the polls.
“Voting Democrat means endless cycles of high crime, unaffordable energy prices, and disappointment,” Trump warned.
This comes as he continues to target Sherrill during her campaign, labeling her a “corrupt radical left-wing Democrat” as early voting in New Jersey began.
“She would be disastrous as governor,” he expressed over the weekend.
Recent polling from Rutgers-Eagleton indicates Sherrill has a slight lead over Republican candidate Jack Ciatarelli, with a 5-point margin (50%-45%).
