Trump celebrates after former GOP rep who voted to impeach him drops out of Michigan Senate race

Former Rep. Peter Meyer (R-Mich.) announced Friday that he is discontinuing his bid to represent Michigan in the U.S. Senate. It’s a move celebrated by former President Donald Trump, whom Meyer voted to impeach.

“I entered this race believing that we have the best chance of winning in November as we work to correct this situation and reverse the trend lines that have worsened in recent months,” Meyer said in a statement. “That’s because I was there,” he said. Posted in X.
