Trump celebrates return of ‘boxes’ seized by ex-special counsel Jack Smith — plans to put them in his presidential library

President Trump celebrated the return of his “box” taken from Mar-a-Lago property during an FBI search in August 2022.

“The Justice Department has just returned a box of Jack Smith doing a big deal,” Trump wrote of the True Society.

“They're being overthrown by Florida and will one day become part of the Trump Presidential Library,” Trump added. “Justice has finally won.”

The boxes were loaded into the Air Force before Trump traveled to Palm Beach, Florida, this weekend. Reuters

Smith's Classification Document Case was rejected in July. The former special advisor later dropped his appeal and the 2022 federal election interference lawsuit against Trump after winning the 2024 election.

“I definitely didn't do anything wrong,” Trump's post continued. “This was just an attack on political opponents who obviously didn't work well.”

“Justice in our country will be restored.”

Prior to Trump's post, White House Communications Director Stephen Chan told reporters that the president's wealth has been loaded into Air Force 1 and that Trump has returned to Marlago, where he will be staying this weekend.

An FBI agent searching Trump's Florida home on August 8, 2022, seized 33 boxes found in his office and on-site storage room, according to an inventory list released by the Department of Justice.

Smith's team claimed that delicate White House documents were found to be mixed between newspapers, magazines, clothing, photographs, Christmas decorations and other personal belongings in the container.

The government argued that the contents of the box showed that they clearly belonged to the president, as they contained items that were “valuable to Trump alone.”

Federal prosecutors said the box had “no obvious organisation,” but FBI agents maintained “box-to-box integrity” through investigations.
