During an interview on “The Will Cain Show,” President Donald Trump expressed concerns that if Democrats regain control of the House in November, they will certainly look for reasons to impeach him. He stated, “They’re going to find something. There’s going to be something.” Reflecting on his past experiences, he remarked, “I took a wrong turn on the exit, so let’s impeach him. They’ve done it before. They made a perfect call to impeach me. They impeached me twice, and I won easily and quickly.” He continued, criticizing his opponents as “very nasty people” and claiming their policies are harmful.
Trump was speaking live from Iowa, connecting with voters and kicking off initiatives for the 2026 midterm elections, culminating in a campaign event in Clive.
History suggests that the Republican Party, which currently holds a narrow majority, may face challenges as midterm elections typically see the president’s party lose ground. Since the 1930s, these elections often lead to losses in House seats and, at times, a loss of the majority.
Trump, during his discussions, recognized the strict realities ahead. He noted that it might not matter whether Republicans or Democrats win—they may still face losses in the upcoming midterms. “That’s the only thing I’m worried about,” he admitted, expressing uncertainty about voter behavior, saying, “Maybe they want to install a protective fence. You just don’t know. It makes no sense.”
Currently, Republicans maintain a tight grip on the House with 218 seats compared to the Democrats’ 213.
