Trump Addresses Diddy’s Pardon Request
On Monday, President Trump confirmed that Sean “Diddy” Combs has sought a pardon regarding his prostitution charges.
During a conversation with reporters in the Oval Office, Trump discussed pardoning Ghislaine Maxwell, a known accomplice of Jeffrey Epstein, and mentioned Diddy’s request as well.
“Many people are approaching me for forgiveness. I refer to him as Puff Daddy. He asked me for a pardon,” Trump remarked.
Diddy was recently found guilty on federal charges related to the transportation for prostitution. He had previously been acquitted of more serious allegations involving racketeering, sex trafficking, and forcing women into unwanted sexual acts.
“I think he was kind of, well, semi-innocent,” Trump said. “I had a friendly relationship with him. He seemed nice, although I didn’t know him that well. But during my campaign, he was quite hostile. That complicates things. People have to remember we’re human and don’t want that to cloud our judgment, but it’s tough when you’ve had a positive relationship and then someone says unpleasant things about you.”
“I don’t know, it definitely makes it trickier to be honest,” he added.
The conversation then shifted when a reporter questioned whether Combs would likely decline the pardon. Trump responded, “I think so.”
Mark Agnifilo, Combs’ lead attorney, remarked that they were not involved in seeking a pardon from the president.
“I’m not part of that at all,” Agnifilo stated. “Honestly, I really have no clue. Sometimes I wonder if it’s not connected, and sometimes I think it’s just rumors. So, I can’t really speak for the president’s thoughts.”
