Trump Claims Iran Seeks Deal with the U.S.
On Tuesday, President Donald Trump stated that Iran is looking to strike a deal with the United States. He mentioned that Iranian officials have offered significant concessions concerning the Strait of Hormuz and oil transportation.
While speaking to reporters in the Oval Office, Trump explained that a gesture from Iran had been received—what he referred to as a “gift.” This communication reportedly took place on Monday, with the actual arrival happening on Tuesday.
“They’re going to make a deal. They did something amazing. They gave us a gift,” Trump remarked, emphasizing that this gift was substantial and worth a great deal of money.
The President didn’t disclose specifics about the gift but indicated it was linked to “oil and gas” and crucial to the Strait of Hormuz. Reports have suggested that the Iranian government previously imposed steep fees on oil tankers navigating through important global shipping routes.
According to Trump, this unnamed gift was “very significant.” He expressed that it demonstrated Iran’s willingness to engage constructively. “It was a great thing for them to do… They said they would do it, and it happened. They were the only ones capable of doing this,” he stated, pointing to the importance of the gesture.
When asked about the U.S. control over the Strait of Hormuz, the President responded with confidence, asserting that the U.S. will exert control over any matters necessary.
Trump also noted that the discussions regarding the deal are being facilitated by Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Vice President J.D. Vance.
In a more general sense, Trump remarked on the nuclear negotiations with Iran, asserting that they had previously agreed not to pursue nuclear weapons and hinting at a strong negotiating position for the U.S., expressing optimism about their timeline.
This is an evolving situation. Stay tuned for further updates.
