Trump Claims 'Lack of Talent' Led to Colbert's Cancellation, Predicts 'Less Talented Jimmy Kimmel' and 'Insecure Jimmy Fallon' Will Be Next

Colbert’s Exit and Trump’s Comments

There’s a lot of chatter suggesting that one individual is to blame for Stephen Colbert’s departure from CBS.

The president reiterated his earlier views, stating that the next late-night show will feature Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon.

“Coming up next are the less talented Jimmy Kimmel and the rather unsettling Jimmy Fallon. The real question is, who will be out first? The business of entertainment is pretty straightforward.”

According to a report from Breitbart News this month, CBS made the decision to cancel Stephen Colbert’s show, citing financial reasons.

“Stephen Colbert will ‘retire from the Late Show franchise’ in May 2026, considering the uniqueness of his position,” an executive mentioned. They emphasized that this is strictly a financial choice amid a tough late-night landscape, and not a reflection of the show’s quality or any issues with Paramount.

The announcement came shortly after Colbert criticized a $16 million settlement involving Trump, labeling it a “big fat bribe” linked to Skydance’s merger. Some viewed the cancellation as political revenge, noting that Colbert was forgoing a significant $40 million annual revenue while maintaining a crew of 200 members. Trump expressed his approval of the cancellation.

“I genuinely enjoy seeing Colbert being fired. His actual talent was less than what he thought it was. And, well, Jimmy Kimmel? Even less talent than Colbert!” the president remarked during his show.

Colbert, unfazed, responded directly, telling the president to “deal with it.”
