Trump Critiques NYC’s Mayoral Candidate Mamdani
On Wednesday, former President Donald Trump took to his platform, Truth Social, to share his views on a recent victory by democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani, who is set to challenge former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo’s candidacy for mayor.
Upon returning from The Hague, where he attended a NATO summit, Trump expressed his thoughts on the shifting dynamics within the Democratic Party. “It’s finally happened, Democrats have crossed the line,” he stated. “We’ve seen radical leftists before, but this feels excessive. He looks terrible; his voice is, well, quite grating.”
He dubbed Mamdani a “100% Communist Madman,” showcasing how Republicans are now using Mamdani’s victory as leverage to paint Democrats as extremists.
In a follow-up post, Trump shared his ideas about how the Democrats might regain favor. He suggested that it might be time for them to nominate Jasmine Crockett, a candidate he described as low-IQ, for president, and that perhaps AOC and her allies should take on vice presidential roles.
Trump went on to mention that by including several cabinet members with questionable records, such as “NYC’s future Communist mayor Zohran Mamdani”, the Democratic Party might really be in trouble.
Meanwhile, New York City Mayor Eric Adams warned that Mamdani might just be playing the role of a “snake oil salesman,” especially in light of his recent primary success.
Interestingly, even within Mamdani’s own party, there have been discussions about whether his ideas are too extreme for the city. New York Representative Laura Gillen remarked that Mamdani’s campaign revolved around unrealistic promises and raised concerns about higher taxes. She pointed out troubling anti-Semitic comments he’s made, suggesting he’s not fit for leadership in New York.
Soon after the election results, Senator Tom Suozzi voiced serious concerns about Mamdani’s ability to lead, revealing that he had supported Mamdani’s opponent for this very reason.
