Trump Claims 'Safest Border Ever' with Record Low Arrests in July -- No Admissions for Three Months

Border Patrol Claims Record Arrest Rates

Border Patrol officials are touting a new high in immigrant arrests along the southwest border, asserting that it represents “the safest border in history.” In July, agents apprehended approximately 4,600 migrants who crossed illegally between ports of entry. Notably, this marks the third consecutive month with zero releases of immigrants into the United States.

According to sources within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, around 4,600 unauthorized individuals were arrested in July, which is about a 24% drop from June’s 6,722 arrests. It’s also noteworthy that this represents a 92% decline compared to the same month the previous year.

A representative from the San Diego Sector Border Patrol questioned on social media, “What does this look like, a safe border?” Meanwhile, another official from the Del Rio Sector declared, “We currently have the safest borders in history!” in a recent post.

On Friday, Border Patrol Chief Michael Banks shared a report indicating 4,399 immigrants were arrested along the tropical border, although he later deleted the post. He emphasized there were “no releases for three consecutive months!”

Breitbart Texas highlighted that under President Donald Trump’s administration, 6,072 immigrants were arrested in June. This number is roughly 15% lower than the record set in March.

In June, a record low of 112 unauthorized immigrants were apprehended in a single day, a statistic that was further eclipsed in July with only 88 arrests reported on one occasion.

Throughout July, the average daily apprehension rate declined to around 148 individuals per day.

For three months, there were no arrests of migrants who crossed the border illegally. During the previous “catch and release” era under the Biden administration, it was common for 50-70% of encountered migrants to be released into the U.S., leading to thousands entering American cities daily without thorough vetting.
