Trump Celebrates Congress’s “Big Beautiful Building” Bill
On Thursday, President Donald Trump marked the approval of what he called the “Big Beautiful Building,” labeling it “the largest bill ever signed” and expressing that it would propel the country forward, essentially turning it into a “rocket ship.” That sounds promising, right?
Earlier in the day, the House voted narrowly, with a tally of 218-214, following what felt like an endless session at Capitol Hill. This came after the Senate had already passed the bill earlier in the week.
Trump noted that only two representatives, Thomas Massey from Kentucky and Brian Fitzpatrick from Pennsylvania, opposed the bill, and that not a single Democrat voted in favor of it.
The bill has now been sent to Trump’s desk.
Reflecting on the vote, Trump mentioned his disappointment regarding Fitzpatrick’s decision, saying, “Well, I’ve disappointed it [Fitzpatrick]; there were two people who voted, and I was disappointed that he voted no.” Nonetheless, he viewed this outcome as a display of GOP unity leading into Independence Day weekend.
“It was very easy to get through the house when we passed the bill,” Trump stated.
As July 4th approaches, Trump appears to be moving on, skipping discussions related to “Grand Stand” and “Ancestors.”
In his commentary, Trump highlighted the comprehensive nature of the bill, which he claimed would result in “the biggest tax cut in history” along with significant funding for border security and military enhancements.
He emphasized its importance, stating, “It’s great for security, it’s excellent at the southern border, it covers immigration. We cover almost everything. Again, this is the biggest bill ever signed.” He added that “record numbers will grow.”
The White House echoed these sentiments, asserting that the bill aims to “create historic economic growth to guide America’s golden age.”
According to White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson, “This bill has combined it with many other pro-growth policies that will provide Americans with the biggest tax cuts in history and reduce our deficits and debt. America will take off like a rocket!”
Moreover, Trump previewed the forthcoming ceremonial signing for Independence Day, stating he would sign the bill at the White House around 5 PM, with Air Force jets expected to fly overhead during the celebration.
He mentioned, “We signed around 5 PM and we’re planning on flying the B-2, F-22, and F-35 over the White House around 5 PM, so we’re going to sign a beautiful plane flying over our heads,” he shared with reporters at Tarmac.
