White House Legislative Director to Depart
James Blade, the White House Legislative Director, is set to leave his position in September, as announced by President Trump.
Blade has been in this role since the start of Trump’s second term, acting as a key link between the president and Congress to push forward legislative goals.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump commended Blade’s contributions, mentioning significant legislative achievements accomplished during his tenure.
“Mr. James played a key role in many accomplishments with Congress, including one big, beautiful bill, defeating Democrats in two shutdown fights, passing the Genius Act, defeating a record number of war powers resolutions, and getting my Cabinet approved at the fastest pace in decades,” Trump noted.
“This is the most successful Republican Congress in history and always will be. Thank you, James, for your service to our country!” he added.
Before his current position, Blade worked closely with Vice President J.D. Vance during his Senate career. This morning, Vance shared on social media about the challenges inherent in Blade’s role and the legislative successes achieved during his time in office.
“James Blade held one of the toughest jobs in the entire administration as White House Legislative Director and worked for President Trump at every turn,” Vance said.
“He played a key role in all of his administration’s accomplishments in Congress, including the largest tax cuts in history, funding for President Trump’s historic immigration policies, and completing the border wall, along with defeating two Democratic shutdowns and steering the first groundbreaking cryptocurrency bill, not to mention the swiftest Cabinet approval in decades,” he continued.
Moreover, Vance praised Blade’s strong work ethic and his service, highlighting their close working relationship.
“James is not only brilliant, he’s one of the hardest workers I’ve ever met. He’s been with me in every battle I’ve ever fought, from my first day in the Senate office to my second term of transition and presidential change. He has been a credit to the president, and I couldn’t be more proud of him. I’m excited to see what he does next,” Vance remarked.
On the congressional front, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-Louisiana) also recognized Blade’s achievements, noting that the administration succeeded despite a slim Republican majority.
“James Blade has served our country with distinction and led the White House Office of Legislative Affairs effectively,” Johnson stated.
“His great friendship, unwavering dedication, and tireless work ethic helped Republicans in the House and Senate advance President Trump’s America First policy against very small majorities, and he played a vital role in delivering historic results for the American people,” he added.
