On Sunday, former President Trump reacted to a disturbing incident involving the beheading of a Texas man, Chandra Nagamariah, expressing his commitment to seek justice for the victim and his family.
In a post on his social media platform, Trump referred to the reports surrounding the murder as “horrifying.”
He highlighted that the suspect, Jordanis Cobos Martinez, had a history of criminal charges, including child sexual abuse, grand theft auto, and false imprisonment. Trump criticized the Biden administration for allowing Martinez into the United States.
Trump asserted, “This individual will face the most severe legal consequences possible. He will be charged with first-degree murder!”
The Dallas Police apprehended Cobos Martinez on Wednesday at a motel in Dallas. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) reported that he allegedly beheaded local merchants in the presence of his wife and children.
ICE confirmed that they had lodged detainer requests at the Dallas County Jail, where Martinez remains in custody, in anticipation of federal action.
Trump characterized the act as brutal, describing how the suspect allegedly beheaded the victim and then kicked his head afterward. He emphasized the gravity of the crime, questioning why such offenders are able to enter the U.S. in the first place.
He also mentioned that foreign criminals should not be allowed to stay in the country. In his view, individuals who come into the U.S. illegally should face deportation to their home countries.
ICE noted that Martinez had previously been ordered for removal to Cuba but had been released on January 13th due to Cuba’s refusal to accept him based on his criminal record.
