Former President Donald Trump condemned the Hezbollah rocket attack that killed 12 Israeli Arab children in the Golan Heights on Saturday and accused President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris of weakness.
Trump’s comments came just hours after a Hezbollah rocket killed at least 12 children in the Israeli-held Arab Druze village of Majal Shams in the northern Golan Heights.
Trump told supporters at a rally in St. Cloud, Minnesota.
Before I begin, I want to condemn the evil attack on Israel that took place early today. At least 12 children, young children, were killed by missiles fired by Hezbollah. As you have all heard, they were playing on a soccer field on Israeli territory in the Golan Heights, a place that I recognized as under Israeli sovereignty during my administration. … The brutal Hezbollah terrorists struck these children with Iranian precision missiles. Dozens more were injured in this attack, and sadly, the death toll will probably be significantly higher. Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to the families of these innocent children. No parent should ever have to suffer the horrible suffering of losing a child at the hands of terrorists or anyone else. Today’s attack on Israel will not be forgotten and will be recorded as another moment in history engineered by a weak and incompetent U.S. President and Vice President. If I were President, they would not have done this. They would not have done such a thing. And they did not. As time goes on, things are only going to get worse for our country. The current leadership is worse than no leadership at all. It is negative. We must rouse Republicans, Democrats, Independents, Conservatives, Progressives, Liberals, and everyone else to restore the strength, respect, and power that is rightfully ours. This attack, like the October 7 attacks and the Ukraine-Russia war, none of this would have happened. It would never have happened if we were President. It would never have happened. It is a dangerous and frightening time for the world, and it is almost entirely our fault. [the] The incompetent Biden-Harris administration.
Harris, who became the Democratic front-runner after Biden’s withdrawal last Sunday, expressed moral ambiguity about Israel’s war with Hamas terrorists in the Gaza Strip, which, like Hezbollah, is backed by Iran.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who met with President Trump, President Biden and President Harris last week, cut short a trip to the United States on Saturday to rush home to address the attack and Israel’s response. “We are deeply sorry for the loss of our country,” he said in a statement (translated from Hebrew by the government press office).
Fellow Israelis, like you, I was shocked to see the horrific images from the aftermath of Hezbollah’s murderous attack in Majdal Shams.
Those killed included young children playing soccer, and we are all heartbroken by this spectacle.
We embrace the Druze family and the entire community in these difficult times, which are also difficult times for us.
Since receiving the latest disaster updates, I have been continuing my security consultations and have directed them to expedite their return to Israel, and will convene a Security Cabinet meeting immediately upon their arrival.
I can assure you that the State of Israel will not sit idly by and watch this. We are not going to let this slide.
Israeli Foreign Minister Katz told Israeli media on Saturday that Israel’s response could rise to the level of “all-out war.”
