MSNBC host Nicolle Wallace said on “Deadline” Monday that the Supreme Court’s decision in President Donald Trump’s immunity case means she could become a target if the former president is re-elected.
Wallace wrote, “In its final decision of its term, the nation’s highest court has handed a future president, in the words of the dissenting justices, a ‘loaded weapon’ aimed squarely at the nation’s rule of law. The court’s 6-3 conservative majority, half of whom were appointed by former President Donald Trump while the other two are facing calls to resign over this very case, could deal a fatal blow to Special Counsel Jack Smith’s efforts to hold the president accountable for crimes committed in the January 6th riot and for conspiring to overturn the 2020 election that he lost. They ruled that Donald Trump and all future presidents have immunity for official acts performed while in office. Now there’s the question of whether a president can order SEAL Team 6 to assassinate a political opponent, and the U.S. Supreme Court has effectively said that they may be able to.”
She added: “Shouldn’t we be finding out what is really going on? Based on today’s decision, the targeting of you, me and Andrew may become a formality, so that those who believe they may be targets for prosecution by Donald Trump are exploring their options to live in other countries.”
