Trump Covered the Cost of Huge U.S. Flags at the White House as a Present

Recently, President Donald Trump financed the installation of two large American flags on the lawns south and north of the White House. According to White House spokesperson Davis Ingle, these flags were a personal gift from Trump, intended to enhance the patriotic spirit of the White House. He mentioned, “President Trump personally paid to set up two big, beautiful American flags to proudly wave above the White House for years to come. This is just one of many projects President Trump selflessly paid to make the White House even more patriotic and beautiful.”

Back in April, Trump had actually surveyed the northern lawn to determine the best spots for the flagpoles, as reported by multiple outlets. The flags stand at 88 feet tall and cost $50,000 each. After his visit to the site, he remarked to reporters that the White House had needed flagpoles for a long time, saying, “They needed flag poles for 200 years… so we’re going to have two beautiful poles on the mound where you saw us, and we have the other on the other side.”

The installation was publicly revealed on June 18, featuring video footage showing Trump interacting with construction workers. It captured the moment when one of the flags was unfurled, catching a breeze that lifted it majestically into view. A longer video later showcased the flag-raising ceremony attended by Trump, his family, and officials.

In a social media post on the same day, the First Lady’s Office shared clips of the decorated South Lawn. This initiative comes at a time when some have criticized the American flag during protests against the Trump administration. In 2020, Trump advocated for stringent penalties against those who burn the flag, suggesting they should face a year in prison, aligning with his belief in the flag as a vital symbol of the nation’s identity.

According to the National Flag Foundation, the flag embodies both the triumphs and struggles that have shaped the nation, serving as a reminder of the sacrifices made to build America into what it is today.
