Ocasio-Cortez Critiques Trump’s Iran Decision
President Donald Trump has come under fire from Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez after his authorization of military actions against Iran’s nuclear sites.
Ocasio-Cortez, a Democrat from New York, criticized Trump’s choice to bomb Iran, calling it “a tragic decision made without Congressional approval.” She characterized the action as a significant breach of the Constitution and an overreach of presidential war powers.
“He impulsively risks escalating a conflict that could haunt us for generations. This is clear evidence of his miscalculation,” she stated.
The congresswoman’s remarks were sparked by recent U.S. military operations targeting three Iranian nuclear sites, including the underground Fordow facility.
In response, Trump took to social media to express his views on her criticism.
“The silly AOC, one of the least serious members of Congress, is criticizing my actions, yet these same Democrats have made similar moves before.”
“We’re moving away from the chaotic administration of Sleepy Joe and Kamala Harris. AOC should undergo the cognitive test I just completed at Walter Reed,” he added.
Trump also suggested that Ocasio-Cortez doesn’t have a strong understanding of her own district, referring to the crime rates in New York City.
He hinted at her potential Senate run against Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, stating, “Instead of her complaints, Alexandria should focus on fixing her crime-ridden streets in Queens. Her approval ratings are the lowest in Congress.” Trump ended with a jab, saying, “Feel free to criticize me all you want—bring it on!”
Ocasio-Cortez replied to Trump’s comments, asserting, “Mr. President, don’t take your frustrations out on me. I’m just a girl trying to speak out. Direct your anger towards those who encouraged you to engage in illegal bombings that betray our Constitution and put us at risk of war.”
“You’ve broken almost every promise you made in just five months,” she concluded.
