Trump Criticizes 'Fraudster' Adam Schiff for Potential Mortgage Fraud

On Tuesday, President Donald Trump raised suspicions regarding Sen. Adam Schiff (D-CA), suggesting he may have engaged in mortgage fraud.

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump stated, “I’ve always suspected Shifty Adam Schiff as a con man.” He further elaborated:

“I now know that Fannie Mae’s financial crimes division has found evidence of Schiff participating in ongoing mortgage fraud. He claimed his primary residence was in Maryland, but while serving as a lawmaker in California, he obtained a lower mortgage, effectively taking advantage of the system. This fraud started with a refinance of his Maryland property on February 6, 2009, and continued through several transactions until, on October 13, 2020, the Maryland property was finally identified as a second home.”

Breitbart News reported that in April, the Trump administration connected New York Attorney General Letitia James to potential prosecution efforts related to alleged mortgage fraud.

Responses from social media users varied, with one comment, “Schifty Schiff and Letitia. We’re headed to prison,” echoing the sentiments about Trump’s claims. Another user remarked, “He got exactly what he deserves.”

In March 2024, Breitbart News highlighted Schiff during his tenure as a US representative. A new book by Peter Schweiser noted that Schiff had unexpected connections with individuals tied to a Southern California criminal network, raising questions about his inaction during the fentanyl crisis.

Schweiser indicated that if lawmakers took the issue seriously, they might inadvertently draw attention to Schiff’s own financial entanglements.

During his first term, Trump had hinted at the possibility of Schiff facing treason charges following false statements made regarding a call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. In December 2021, Breitbart reported on evidence that Schiff had referred to in the 2019 impeachment inquiry into President Trump.
