Trump criticizes ‘obnoxious’ reporter and ‘corrupt’ ABC News

Trump Clashes with Reporter Over Troop Deployment to Middle East

During a press briefing on Air Force One, President Donald Trump had a tense exchange with a reporter inquiring about the deployment of Marines and sailors to the Middle East amid tensions with Iran. He described the inquiry as “very disgusting” and labeled ABC News as “corrupt.”

When pressed to explain the troop movements, Trump interrupted the reporter, remarking, “You’re a very unpleasant person,” before turning his attention to another journalist.

In another instance, Trump was asked about a fundraising email from his PAC that included a photo of him wearing a baseball cap at a dignified transfer ceremony for service members. The ABC reporter inquired whether this email was appropriate. “I think so,” Trump responded, defending himself by stating, “There’s no one better for the military than me. Look at the election results, look at the poll numbers.”

On his return from Mar-a-Lago, Trump asked a different reporter who they were with. Upon learning it was ABC News, he expressed disdain, calling it “one of the worst, most false, most corrupt countries.” He accused the network of being the “most corrupt news organization on the planet” and declared that he did not want them to conduct any more reporting.

ABC News did not respond to requests for comments. Trump also alleged that some of the news coming from Iran was “fake” and “AI-generated.” In a notable past event, Trump settled a defamation lawsuit against ABC and anchor George Stephanopoulos for $15 million after claims regarding a civil suit.

Additionally, Trump warned that NATO must work with the U.S. to secure the Strait of Hormuz or face dire consequences.
