Trump critiques GOP attention on the Epstein case rather than more significant issues.

Trump’s Remarks on Epstein, Bondy, and Biden’s Policies

During a meeting in the Oval Office on Wednesday, President Donald Trump commented that some Republicans involved with Jeffrey Epstein were “deceived” by Democrats. He emphasized his support for Attorney General Pam Bondy’s approach to the Epstein case.

Trump discussed the implications of former President Joe Biden potentially reversing the energy policies from his first term, which he argued would contribute to rising inflation. “What Biden did is he ended our policy,” Trump stated, expressing his belief that there is a scandal that should gain more attention than what is currently highlighted.

There was a notable mention of Jill Biden, as Trump remarked on Bondy’s need to navigate the ongoing GOP inquiries regarding her actions. He claimed that Bondy could share “anything you can trust” about the Epstein matter. “He’s dead. He’s gone,” was Trump’s assertion about Epstein, suggesting that some Republicans were acting in line with Democratic narratives that mirror past controversies.

He recounted how he instructed Bondy and White House lawyers to investigate whether Biden’s team utilized autopens for signing significant papers without acknowledgment, a claim Biden has denied. The House Oversight Committee is looking into the matter, sending out subpoenas for various testimonies.

Trump also touched on discussions within his party, claiming to have “lost faith” in certain members concerning the Epstein issue. He believes that the ongoing concerns regarding the Justice Department’s transparency are legitimate, pointing out that some of his supporters have bought into Democratic narratives, which he views as misleading.

Overall, Trump maintained a consistent tone, arguing that bigger issues, such as immigration and crime, should take precedence. He expressed a sense of frustration, attributing the challenges faced by the country to the actions of “certain” Democrats and asserting that they’d mismanaged significant issues. “It’s very sad that someone can give way. Just being given way… I think she’s doing a great job,” he said about Bondy’s efforts.
