Canada’s elections will be held on Monday.
Voting began on Monday for Canadians to elect a new government to address the potential threat of annexation by the US and manage relations with President Donald Trump directly.
The Liberal Party, under new Prime Minister Mark Carney, seemed to be trailing conservative Pierre Polyave until an unexpected backlash from the US President shifted the polling outlook.
Carney, aged 60, has not previously held an elected position and took over from Justin Trudeau just last month. He had a successful career as an investment banker prior to his terms as central bank governor in both Canada and the UK.
On Election Day, Donald Trump reiterated his call for Canada to join as the 51st state.
“The US can no longer support Canada with the hundreds of millions of dollars we used to spend, and it holds no significance unless Canada is recognized as a nation!”

Choose leaders who possess the strength and foresight to halve your taxes, boost military power to the highest level globally, and if Canada becomes the 51st state, industries like cars, steel, aluminum, wood, and energy would see tremendous growth with no tariffs or taxes. United with the United States, natural boundaries would disappear. Imagine the beauty of this land. Unhindered access across borders. All benefits, no drawbacks. This is what I envisioned! America can no longer support Canada at the expense of hundreds of millions annually. Without Canada being a recognized nation, it lacks logic!
