Trump Announces 2026 FIFA World Cup Draw Location

On August 22, 2025, President Donald Trump unveiled that the 2026 FIFA World Cup draw will take place at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, on December 5th. Trump made this announcement during a press event in the Oval Office, joined by FIFA President Gianni Infantino.

The draw, which will outline the matchups for the tournament, is set for noon on that date. Trump remarked, “The 2026 FIFA World Cup is the biggest and most complicated event in sports history, and the Kennedy Center gives it an incredible kickoff.” Infantino noted, “We are uniting the world in America, and we are extremely proud of it.”

According to the White House, FIFA anticipates that this tournament will generate approximately $30 billion for the U.S. economy and attract around 6 million fans. This World Cup will be noteworthy for two reasons: it will be the first hosted by three nations—the U.S., Canada, and Mexico—and it will feature a record of 48 teams competing.

Fans will have the opportunity to watch games across all three countries. In the U.S., matches are scheduled in cities including Atlanta, Boston, Dallas, Houston, and Los Angeles, among others. Mexico will host games in Guadalajara, Mexico City, and Monterrey, while Canada will see matches in Toronto and Vancouver.

The tournament is set to kick off in Mexico on June 11, 2026, with two opening matches. The U.S. men’s national team is slated to play their first Group D match on June 12, 2026, at Sophie Stadium in Inglewood, California. They will play their second game in Los Angeles on June 19, 2026, followed by the group stage finale on June 25, 2026, at Lumen Field in Seattle.
