ICE Removes Age Cap in Recruitment Drive

The Trump administration has announced the removal of the age limit for positions within the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). This decision opens the door for many individuals who may have grown older while serving in the military.

Homeland Security Secretary Christie Noem made the announcement on Wednesday, part of a broader recruitment initiative targeting 10,000 new hires. She mentioned that ICE has already received 80,000 applications to fill these roles.

Noem stated, “We have finished the ICE Law Enforcement Age Cap. Qualified candidates can now apply without age restrictions,” in a message shared on social media. Steven Miller, Deputy Chief of Staff at the White House, added a call to action, urging potential candidates to submit their applications.

As part of its efforts to attract applicants, ICE is offering incentives like signing bonuses that can reach up to $50,000, along with benefits such as student loan repayment options.

According to Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons, “Your country is asking you to serve with ICE and protect your hometown.” He emphasized the challenges agents face as they work to address illegal immigration, particularly in light of the previous administration’s open border policies. There’s a sense of urgency and a push to recruit individuals committed to safeguarding their communities.

While ICE aims to bolster its team, agents are also confronting increased risks. Reports indicate an alarming 830% rise in attacks on ICE personnel, coinciding with nationwide protests and unrest.

The recruitment page acknowledges concerns about safety, stating that while there are risks associated with the job, ICE officers receive specialized training to ensure their protection.
