Trump Pushes for Filibuster Elimination
President Donald Trump is continuing to press Senate Republicans to eliminate the filibuster. On Monday, he took to Truth Social, sharing a video that included former Attorney General Eric Holder suggesting that if Democrats achieve a “triple” in the 2028 elections, expanding the Supreme Court might become a consideration.
Holder’s remarks were made during a conversation with Ben Meiselas, a co-founder of Meidas Touch, who had posted the video in the previous month.
Sen. Ron Johnson warns of potential consequences for ignoring the Democrats’ filibuster strategy.
Trump characterized Holder, who served under President Obama, as an “Obama sycophant,” pointing out that Holder emphasized Democrats’ intentions to pack the Supreme Court if they gain the opportunity. “The bottom line,” Trump stated, “is that he wants 21 radical left-wing activists on the bench,” which he felt was a clear indication of dissatisfaction with the 15 they initially sought.
Trump believes that removing the filibuster could be crucial for Republicans in the upcoming 2026 midterm elections as well as the 2028 presidential race.
Holder calls on Democrats to prioritize Supreme Court expansion and term limits.
In a follow-up, Trump warned, “They’re going to destroy our Constitution. Republicans have little choice but to cancel the filibuster. Otherwise, it will pave the way for an easy victory in both the midterms and in 2028.” He emphasized that the American populace desires action rather than gridlock.
John Fetterman accuses James Carville of having a plot related to court-packing and urges Democrats to win more elections.
Trump concluded, indicating that when the filibuster was lifted, the country experienced considerable success, claiming, “We had the most successful four years in our nation’s history, with no hint of our great nation shutting down.”
