Trump Proposes Rebranding ICE to NICE

President Trump is initiating a rebranding campaign which may appease some critics of his strict immigration policies, while likely aggravating others.

On Saturday, he posed a question to the American public about whether the acronym for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) should be altered to NICE.

In a post on his Truth Social account, he expressed his belief that renaming ICE to “NICE” might create confusion among “dishonest and unpatriotic” media figures. He referred to it as a concept he has considered for some time now.

Following that, he set up an online poll for people to vote on the name change, collecting about 10,000 votes within the first hour, though it’s unclear which option is currently leading.

Trump stated that ICE is facing unprecedented scrutiny from what he called the “fake news media,” praising the agents as “great patriots working hard in a very hostile environment.”

He elaborated on his idea, suggesting it would provoke frustration among critics. “If someone said, ‘Today I went to a NICE facility,’ instead of ‘ICE,’ the reaction would be chaotic!” he remarked. He argued that changing the name to incorporate “N” for “national” would give it a more honorable touch.

However, it remains uncertain whether Trump genuinely intends to change the name. On the same day, he also ran a poll about whether to refer to the opposition as “Dumocrats” or “Dumbocrats.” The White House was contacted for clarity on this ICE poll.

Trump’s comments about NICE came amid recent violent encounters between protesters and law enforcement outside the Delaney Hall immigration detention center in Newark.

Reports indicate that several out-of-state agitators have been arrested during confrontations at the facility. At least two individuals among those apprehended have links to the radical nonprofit Sunrise Movement, which has called for the shutdown of Delaney Hall and the abolition of ICE.

The shootings of Alex Preti and Renee Good during anti-ICE demonstrations in Minneapolis earlier this year became significant rallying points for leftist movements, even capturing the attention of Bruce Springsteen in song.

It’s worth noting that in 2002, a restructuring of the Homeland Security Act formed an agency originally known as the Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, but it never gained traction as BICE, and was officially renamed ICE in 2007.
