Trump endorses both candidates in Arizona House primary after previously taking sides

Former President Trump on Sunday retracted his earlier endorsement in Arizona’s hotly contested congressional primary, opting to give his “full” support to both candidates.

Trump said the race had “two great candidates who put America First” and praised both Masters and Hamadeh.

“They are both outstanding candidates, and I am pleased that both Blake Masters and Abe Hamadeh have my full endorsement to be the next Representatives for Arizona’s 8th Congressional District,” he continued. “They will not disappoint you!”

Hamadeh and Masters have been bitter rivals since 2022, when Hamadeh ran for attorney general and Masters ran for U.S. Senate.

The July 30 primary election is expected to be a close race between the candidates.

Trump’s change of tack came after he added Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio) to his running mate list, whose 2022 campaign is being funded primarily by tech billionaire Peter Thiel, who was also a major donor to Masters’ campaign.
