US envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkov is heading to Russia later this week, a source familiar with the matter told Fox News.
The confirmation comes after media reports say Witkov is planning to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin twice.
According to Axios, Witkoff previously met Putin for three hours while traveling to Moscow in mid-February, securing the release of American Marc Fogel, who was detained.
The Kremlin then suggested that another US-Russian prisoner swap could come around then.
