Exclusive: President-elect Donald Trump will soon appoint a special envoy for peace to Ukraine to lead negotiations to end the war with Russia, multiple sources told Fox News Digital.
“There will be a very senior envoy, a very reliable person, who will be tasked with finding a solution and reaching a peace agreement,” one of the people said.
“You'll find out soon enough.”
The job is not expected to be a paid role; from 2017 to 2019, Kurt Volker served as special representative for Ukraine negotiations on a volunteer basis.

He has chosen Rep. Michael Walz (R-Fla.) to be his national security adviser, and officials told Fox News that he has settled on Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) to be secretary of state. said.

President Trump has long maintained that he could negotiate an end to the war with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy and Russian President Vladimir Putin. Few details are given as to how he does this.
A Wall Street Journal report last week suggested that a controversial proposal by Vice President-elect Vance during his campaign is now being promoted by several advisers close to the president-elect.

According to reports, some advisers are pushing Kyiv to agree to terms that would create an 800-mile demilitarized zone to freeze the front lines and allow Russia to retain illegally occupied land, about 20% of Ukraine. He is reportedly urging President Trump to apply pressure.
It has also been suggested that Kiev should agree not to pursue NATO membership for 20 years, a plan that critics say is a show of deference to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

A Washington Post report on Sunday also claimed that President Trump met with President Putin, where the president-elect told the Russian leader not to escalate the war. Trump's transition team did not confirm or deny the call.
