In a heated Thanksgiving post regarding immigration, President Trump criticized Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, labeling him “severely mentally retarded” and implied that Rep. Ilhan Omar might be “probably in the country illegally.”
The 79-year-old Trump unleashed his frustrations towards Walz, who was Kamala Harris’ running mate during the 2020 presidential bid, for allowing a significant influx of Somali immigrants, claiming they’ve taken over a “once great nation.”
He stated, “Somali gangs roam the streets in search of ‘prey’ while our wonderful citizens remain locked up in their apartments and homes against their hopes of being left alone,” in a fiery late-night message on Truth Social.
Furthermore, he criticized Governor Walz harshly, suggesting he operates from a place of fear, incompetence, or both, stating, “Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, who is severely mentally retarded, does nothing out of fear, incompetence, or both.”
Trump also directed his ire at Rep. Omar, calling her “the worst congressman/woman in our country,” emphasizing her customary hijab. He accused the Somali-born lawmaker of “probably entering the country illegally.”
Walz responded to Trump’s bitter remarks by questioning the president’s own mental well-being. He challenged Trump to “announce your MRI results,” alluding to a medical exam Trump had previously claimed was “perfect.”
This outburst from Trump came after two National Guard members were shot in Washington, D.C. A 29-year-old Afghan national, who had affiliations with the CIA during the Afghanistan conflict, is facing charges in connection with the shooting.
Trump concluded his post by asserting, “Only reverse immigration can completely resolve this situation,” and added, “Other than that, happy thanks to everyone except those who hate, steal, kill, and destroy everything America stands for. You won’t be here long!”
