Trump Lights National Christmas Tree, Expresses Love for Americans
WASHINGTON – During the lighting of the national Christmas tree near the White House on Thursday night, President Trump shared his affection for “all of our great people,” including those he might not particularly favor.
The 79-year-old President made a notably heartfelt remark after referencing Jesus. He stated, “With the birth of Jesus, human history turned from night to day. His words and example call us to love one another, serve one another, and honor the sacred truth that every child is uniquely created in the image of God.”
“I want to express my deep respect and love to all of our great people, 350 million people. Whether you like it or not, we love them all. We want to take care of everyone. We have to take care of everyone in this country,” he added, standing before the presidential mansion.
This show of holiday spirit comes after some recent sharp remarks from Trump, where he described journalists as “ugly,” “stupid,” and “terrible,” even calling one a “pig” over inquiries regarding files linked to the late Jeffrey Epstein.
Hosting nearly 30 small holiday gatherings at the White House this month, Trump addressed a large crowd outside, expressing pride in the peace deals he helped facilitate this year while aspiring to address the Russia-Ukraine war shortly.
He also spoke about the shooting of two National Guardsmen that occurred just north of the White House before Thanksgiving, allegedly perpetrated by an Afghan defector, which led to changes in asylum processes, a review of green card holders, and a suspension of visas for certain Afghans.
On a more somber note, Trump remarked, “I want to express my utmost respect to these two great Guardsmen. You know who I’m talking about. They paid the ultimate price in one case, and Andrew in another.” He added, “I spoke to their parents today, and they exhibit great spirit and incredible love for our country.”
The event saw attendance from First Lady Melania Trump, hockey legend Wayne Gretzky, and members of the Beach Boys.
In conclusion, Trump painted an optimistic picture of progress as he addressed an audience that included Cabinet members. “As a nation, we have much to be thankful for. This holiday season, our borders are secure. Our spirits have been restored,” he declared. “Our economy is thriving. Inflation has stopped. Our country is strong, and America is back—bigger, better, stronger, and better than ever.”
