Trump Faces Setback as Supreme Court Halts His Deportations: Troubling and Risky Day

New Delhi:

President Donald Trump expressed strong disapproval on Saturday regarding a recent ruling from the U.S. Supreme Court, labeling it a “bad day” for the nation. His comments followed the Court’s decision to block his attempt to deport Venezuelan gang members, a move he sought under the Alien Enemy Act of 1798, which had not been used for many decades.

Trump argued that the ruling suggested that “the worst murderers, drug dealers, gang members, and even those mentally unstable who have entered illegally cannot be removed without an extensive and costly legal process.” He expressed concerns that this would only lead to “more criminals pouring into the United States” and pose “great harm to our precious American people.”

Furthermore, he added that this would likely encourage additional criminal activity, claiming it would “spin chaos and Bedlam wherever they go.” Trump, who previously ran for president promising to deport millions of undocumented individuals, expressed his frustration over the Supreme Court’s constraints on his immigration policies.

He contrasted this with President Biden’s immigration approach, stating, “Sleepy Joe Biden has permitted millions of criminals to enter our country without a ‘process,’ but removing them involves a long, drawn-out procedure.” Trump extended his gratitude to Justices Alito and Thomas, whom he believes are committed to protecting the nation.

The Supreme Court’s ruling was a 7-2 decision, which noted that the Venezuelan individuals had not received adequate time to contest their deportation legally.
