Prime Minister Welcomes US-UK Investment
Prime Minister Kiel Starmer expressed enthusiasm for the £250 billion mutual investment flowing between the UK and the US during President Donald Trump’s visit, which he referred to as “the most natural partnership in the world.”
The royal visit concluded after President Trump’s day at the historic Windsor Castle, hosted by King Charles III.
A private meeting took place between the two leaders, although the details were not disclosed. However, they were expected to discuss topics such as the Ukraine conflict, environmental issues, the Gaza situation, and challenges within the British speech landscape. During a business leaders’ event, Starmer noted:
He remarked that the transatlantic business relationship is propelled by “the power of this partnership, US capital, ingenuity combined with entrepreneurial and British ideas.”
Both leaders signed what has been termed the “Tech-Prosperity Deal.” President Trump mentioned that this agreement would unlock “billion dollar opportunities” and, significantly, enhance US access to the UK’s world-class aerospace supply chain.
Trump stated, “There are no more natural partnerships in the world. We have built up the industrial capabilities of the nation that are essential to our defense, and we are working very well in defense.”
Regarding the sectors impacted by the deal, Trump mentioned, “This historic agreement on science and technology partnerships will initiate new collaborations between government, academic, and private sectors in areas like AI, which are becoming increasingly dominant globally.”
As he prepared to sign, he quipped while looking towards his cabinet members Scott Bescent and Howard Lutnick, asking, “Do I need to sign this, Howard?”
A joint press conference featuring President Trump and Prime Minister Kiel is anticipated to take place around 1420 (0920 ET). The president plans to leave London for Washington, D.C., around 1700 (1200 ET).
This story is still developing.
