Trump flies flag at full height before end of Carter mourning period

A packed American flag was flown at President-elect Trump's Mar-a-Lago property in Florida on Monday, according to the Associated Press.

The transition comes before the end of a 30-day mourning period honoring the late President Carter, who died on Dec. 29 at the age of 100.

President Biden ordered flags to be lowered to half-staff nationwide until sunset on January 28th. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) issued a similar 30-day order for his state.

The Associated Press reported that Mar-a-Lago's large flag was initially lowered to half-staff, but was later raised.

Hill has reached out to Trump's team for comment.

President Trump has expressed displeasure about the flag being flown at half-staff at the inauguration, which will be held less than 30 days after Carter's death.

President Trump told Truth Social on January 3, “Democrats are all 'blindsided' that the grand American flag may be flown at half-staff during my inauguration.'' I wrote it. In fact, they don't love our country and only care about themselves. ”

“Nobody wants to see this, no American is going to be happy about this. Let's see what happens,” Trump said, referring to the flag being lowered during the inauguration.

Last week, President Trump visited Carter as he lay in state in the Capitol Rotunda and attended the state funeral.

After Carter's death, President Trump issued a statement saying he “strongly disagrees” with Carter “philosophically and politically,” but said the 39th president “truly loved and respected our country and everything it stands for.” he admitted.
