Trump flips Arizona, sweeping battleground states

According to Decision Desk Headquarters, Donald Trump is expected to win Arizona and take control of the key battleground state.

Arizona is one of seven battleground states that will determine whether Trump and Vice President Harris return to the White House. The Grand Canyon State was won by President Trump by 3.5 percentage points in 2016, but the former president narrowly lost to President Biden in 2020 by just over a quarter of a percentage point.

After about 100 days of campaigning with Harris, Trump secured the 270 electoral votes needed to win the White House. Mr. Trump won Arizona with a total of 312 votes and Ms. Harris received a total of 226 votes.

Several prominent Republicans in the state have endorsed Harris, including former Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.), who most recently served as ambassador to Turkey in the Biden administration, and Mesa Mayor John Giles.

But even these high-profile Republican defectors weren't enough to propel Harris to the top.

After the 2020 presidential election, the state was exposed to election denialism as Trump and others challenged the results of the previous presidential election, despite audits and courts pointing to the fact that there was no widespread fraud. It became a hotbed.

Arizona is also home to the U.S. Senate race between Rep. Ruben Gallego (D-Ariz.) and Republican Kari Lake to replace retiring Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (I-Ariz.). For this reason, particular attention has been focused on Arizona State this season.

Most polls conducted ahead of the Senate race have Gallego leading Lake, raising questions about whether the state could be a split vote that elects both Trump and Gallego. are.
