Trump gains momentum as the Fourth of July weekend approaches with a string of victories

Trump’s Momentum Soars After Major Legislation and Military Actions

President Donald Trump is experiencing a significant surge in momentum following the signing of the $3.3 trillion “Big Beautiful Bill” on Friday. This bill’s approval comes on the heels of other notable wins for his administration, including a Supreme Court ruling in his favor and a successful military strike against an Iranian nuclear facility.

White House press chief Karoline Leavitt commented, “President Trump has delivered more victories to Americans in just two weeks than most presidents manage in four years.” She described this period as perhaps the most historic in American political history, asserting that “Thanks to President Trump, America is back and is the hottest country in the world!”

The tax and domestic policy bill reached Trump’s desk after the House finalized the version of the legislation on Thursday, just in time for his stated July 4th deadline.

This legislation includes key features that solidify personal and business tax credits from Trump’s 2017 tax cuts, along with new credits aimed at reducing overtime pay obligations. It also proposes a $5 trillion increase in debt limits, a move that has garnered criticism from prominent figures like Elon Musk.

Moreover, the bill aims to retract certain Green Energy Tax Credits established during the Biden administration and allocates approximately $350 billion toward defense and significant initiatives for deportation to curtail illegal immigration. Medicaid reforms are also on the table, pushing for new work requirements affecting recipients and expanding stipulations for those involved in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).

U.S. Military Actions in Iran

On June 21, the U.S. initiated a strike targeting Iran’s nuclear facilities, employing more than 125 aircraft, as stated by General Duncanne. Following this operation, Trump claimed that the mission “completely wiped out” the targeted location, while another official mentioned that subsequent evaluations indicated significant damage to all three sites involved. However, he also acknowledged that comprehensive assessments would take time.

Leaked reports from various outlets later suggested that the strike may have only delayed Iran’s nuclear ambitions by a few months, which adds a layer of complexity to the administration’s claims. Nonetheless, Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell asserted that an internal assessment indicated the strike could hinder Iran’s program for one to two years.

Supreme Court Ruling on National Injunctions

The Supreme Court ruled 6-3 on June 27, restricting lower courts from enforcing a universal injunction. Trump hailed this decision, suggesting it would thwart what he described as widespread abuse of judicial power. In a related statement, he expressed concern over “radical left judges” attempting to undermine presidential authority and prevent the American public from benefiting from the policies they overwhelmingly endorsed.

Settlement with Paramount Global

On Tuesday, Paramount Global, the parent company of CBS News, agreed to a $16 million settlement linked to a lawsuit filed by Trump in October 2024 regarding a “60 Minutes” interview involving Vice President Kamala Harris. The case centered on the interview’s portrayal and content. Trump specified that the settlement proceeds would go toward funding his future presidential library, rather than his personal finances, while CBS plans to engage mediators to finalize the agreement without offering any formal apology.
