Trump Gives Iran 48 Hours to Open the Strait of Hormuz

Trump Issues Ultimatum to Iran Over Strait of Hormuz

President Donald Trump has presented Iran with a stark ultimatum: if the Strait of Hormuz isn’t opened within 48 hours, the US will take action against Iran’s power facilities.

In a message posted on Truth Social, Trump stated, “If Iran does not fully open the Strait of Hormuz without threat within 48 hours from this point, the United States will attack and destroy various Iranian power plants, starting with the largest!”

A collective statement from over 20 nations has condemned Iran for its recent actions, particularly their attacks on unarmed civilian ships and oil infrastructure in the Gulf, as reported by Breitbart News’ Kurt Zindulka.

On Saturday morning, countries including Australia, Canada, Germany, Japan, and the United Kingdom issued a strong rebuke of Iran’s actions. They expressed grave concern over the escalating conflict, urging Iran to halt its threats, mine-laying, and drone attacks, and to adhere to UN Security Council Resolution 2817.

Iranian officials previously hinted that lawmakers might implement a system requiring tolls for passage through the Strait of Hormuz.

According to legal sources, all vessels, military or civilian, are entitled to transit the Strait of Hormuz as long as they navigate through without delay, and do not engage in hostile actions against neighboring states.

The same source stated, “Iran’s actions in closing the strait are contrary to both the letter and spirit of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea and applicable customary international law.” UNCLOS refers to the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.
