On Friday’s episode of HBO’s “Real Time,” host Bill Maher said he believes Russia, China, North Korea and Iran want former Republican candidate Donald Trump to defeat President Joe Biden in the 2024 presidential election, but noted that Russia seized land from Ukraine during the Obama administration when Biden was vice president and has since seized land from Ukraine under Biden but not when Trump was president, much to Trump’s delight.
Maher began by saying that Trump and Biden “discussed a bit last night about foreign policy issues and the strengthening of the strategic alliance that’s happening between what I would call autocracies: Russia, China, North Korea and Iran,” adding that these countries “like” Trump and want him to be president.
He added: “I think it was a good moment for Trump to say that Putin gained territory under the Biden administration, he gained territory under the Obama administration, but he won’t do it under my administration.”
“But Mr Trump said last week that the US now has the biggest trade deficit ever with China, over $1 trillion. The current deficit is a quarter of that,” Mr Maher added, adding that Mr Trump was “just saying things off the top of his head”.
