Trump hints that JD Vance may be the successor to the MAGA movement in 2028

On Tuesday, President Donald Trump indicated that Vice President JD Vance would likely pursue the Republican presidential nomination for 2028. During an event at the South Court Auditorium, Fox News Senior White House correspondent Peter Doucy touched on the topic while signing an executive order to establish the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Task Force. Doucy posed the question of whether Vance could emerge as a key figure in America’s political movement, especially after Trump clarified that he would not be seeking a third term.

Doucy remarked, “We’ve effectively cleared the Republican field. Would you agree that the heir to the MAGA movement is JD Vance?”

In response, Trump mentioned that Secretary of State Marco Rubio might collaborate with Vance to form a formidable ticket. “I believe I’m probably the most,” Trump said, adding that “he’s the vice president, and Marco could also end up working with JD.”

He continued, “We have some amazing individuals among us, so yes, it’s a bit premature to speculate, but he’s certainly excelling in his role. I think he’ll appreciate it as it unfolds.”

Charlie Kirk previously referred to JD Vance as a guiding figure for young conservatives, yet some in the GOP insist he must follow through on his commitments. Trump pointed out that there are others within his administration capable of leading the MAGA movement. Notably, there had been prior speculation that he might run for a third term, something that’s, of course, against the Constitution.

Rubio, who competed against Trump in the 2016 primaries, has since aligned himself as a supporter. Just last month, he dismissed rumors about his potential candidacy for 2028, instead endorsing Vance. In an interview with Lara Trump that aired on Fox, Rubio stated that he believes Vance would make an excellent candidate.

He also commended Vance’s work as Vice President during a segment called “My Views with Lara Trump,” expressing satisfaction with Trump’s ongoing role in the cabinet.
