Trump indicates he may deploy Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine

Trump’s Warning About Russia and Ukraine

President Trump mentioned on Sunday that there’s a possibility Russia might deploy Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine if the conflict remains unresolved.

Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, he indicated that he might have a conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin before any missiles are sent to Ukraine. These missiles can strike targets from over a thousand miles away, which is pretty significant.

When asked about what he might say to Putin, Trump responded, “I would say the Tomahawk is quite an impressive weapon, a highly offensive one. Honestly, I don’t think Russia even needs something like that.”

Earlier on the same day, Trump met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy. Zelensky stated, in an interview, that Ukraine requires “long-range capabilities” and mentioned that he and Trump were “working” on figuring out how to get Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine.

Such an arrangement could allow Ukraine to intensify its attacks on Russia. Last week, Russian lawmakers warned that if the Trump administration goes ahead with supplying Ukraine with Tomahawks, they would respond by shooting them down and retaliating against the U.S.

The ongoing war, which started with Russia invading Ukraine in February 2022, is approaching its four-year mark, despite multiple attempts by the Trump administration to broker a ceasefire. Over the weekend, Russia targeted Ukraine’s power infrastructure, resulting in injuries to two individuals.

Zelensky reported that Moscow has launched over 3,100 drones, alongside glide bombs and missiles. Tragically, he noted that a child was killed in an airstrike on a church in Kostiantyniuca.

Both Zelensky and Putin have recently commended Trump for his efforts following an agreement between Israel and Hamas on the initial phase of a peace plan. Zelensky expressed optimism on social media, asserting that “other wars will surely be stopped,” while Putin acknowledged Trump’s significant efforts to address such a complex crisis during a summit with former Soviet Union nations.

Last month, Trump stated on his platform that Ukraine has the potential to reclaim territories currently occupied by Russia. Additionally, Zelensky announced that a high-level Ukrainian delegation, led by Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko, would be visiting the United States this week.
