Trump Indicates U.S. Might Be Looking to End Iran War

U.S. Goals in Iran and Military Actions Discussed by Trump

On Friday, President Donald Trump mentioned that the United States is making progress toward its objectives in Iran and hinted at potentially winding down military efforts.

This update was shared via a post on Truth Social as he was leaving the White House for a trip to Florida over the weekend.

“As we think about scaling back our military presence in the Middle East against Iran’s terrorist regime, we are quite close to achieving our aims: (1) significantly degrading Iran’s missile capabilities, launchers, and related systems; (2) dismantling Iran’s defense industrial base; (3) eliminating their naval and air forces, including anti-aircraft weapons; (4) ensuring that Iran never reaches nuclear capability, and the U.S. being ready to respond swiftly if needed; (5) providing top-tier protection for our allies in the Middle East, including Israel, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait, among others,” he wrote.

Trump emphasized that nations utilizing the Strait of Hormuz should take responsibility for security in the area, stating that the U.S. would not engage in operations there.

“If necessary, we will support these countries’ security efforts in Hormuz, but once the Iranian threat is neutralized, their need for such support will diminish. This will ultimately simplify military operations for them,” he added.

White House press secretary Caroline Levitt tweeted about the president’s message, noting that the timeframe for Operation Epic Fury was initially set at four to six weeks, with the third week concluding tomorrow.

“The President and the Department of Defense estimated that this mission would take roughly four to six weeks to complete,” she stated.

She also mentioned, “Tomorrow marks the end of week three, and the U.S. military has performed exceptionally. As time goes on, the Iranian regime is becoming increasingly ineffective, which significantly reduces its ability to threaten the U.S. and our allies.”

Trump’s remarks followed news of the deployment of over 2,000 Marines and three additional warships to the Middle East. When asked about whether sending more Marines might affect the support among his base for military action, as indicated by various polls, he responded.

“I’m not sure. CNN just released a poll showing I have 100 percent support, which they claimed was unprecedented. It’s flattering, really. I’m amazed they would report that,” Trump replied.

He added, “But regarding military actions, I can’t disclose our plans right now.”
