Trump Expresses Concern Over Iranian Protests
During an appearance on Monday’s “Hugh Hewitt Show,” former President Donald Trump expressed his sadness regarding the current protests in Iran. He remarked, “It’s heartbreaking. 42,000 people lost their lives in just the first two weeks. I don’t want to witness that. They need weapons. I think they might be acquiring them. Once they have guns, they’ll fight back like anyone else.”
Hewitt pressed Trump about his previous comments encouraging the Iranian people to persist and await assistance, especially after such significant loss of life. He asked, “Given the death of 40,000 individuals, do you still advise the Iranian people to come out, or should they remain indoors?”
Trump replied, “The issue is, even if we have 250,000 people, having five armed individuals can change the game. They can win if they act quickly. They’re unarmed and have already lost 42,000, many who were innocent protesters. A world-class wrestler was killed along with his friends—hung from a crane in public. We’re not dealing with ordinary circumstances.”
He continued, stating, “Even with a quarter of a million people, it’s dangerous to be unarmed against those with AK-47s. This is tragic. I feel for them. They’ve lost 42,000 in a matter of weeks, and I don’t want to see any more bloodshed. I believe they’re working to get firearms. Once they have them, they’ll fight like everyone else. But if the opposition is well-armed, fatigue sets in, and many of those brave enough to fight may lose their resolve. We’ve hit them hard militarily and economically; they’re in a tough spot, and honestly, we hold most of the cards.”
