Blackwater founder Erik Prince has spoken out about the attempted assassination of President Trump.
He said Trump was only alive because of “malicious speculation by malicious assassins.”
Here is Prince’s full assessment:
“After yesterday’s tragedy in Butler, Pennsylvania, I hope we can all recognize that a bloated bureaucracy with no accountability continues to fail us Americans.
Donald J. Trump is alive today thanks to an evil assassin’s poor estimation of the wind. As the diagram shows, the maximum wind speed was only 5 miles per hour, enough to push the unidentified but probably light 55-grain bullet 2 inches from DJT’s forehead to his ear. DJT was not saved by the superior competence of the USSS. The fact that the USSS allowed a shooter with a rifle to approach within 150 yards of a pre-planned event is either malice or gross incompetence. There was clearly enough uncontrolled dead space for the shooter to move into position, take aim and fire multiple times. If you watch the newsreels, you can tell just how close the shooter was by the very short time lag between the sound of the bullet hitting (supersonic) and the muzzle blast (sonic).
Law enforcement snipers (not sure if USSS) seen in newsreels were clearly overwhelmed and missed their mission to kill the shooter, with their faces off their rifles. They were clearly watching the shooter but apparently prohibited “first shots”. The only positive action was a shot from one USSS sniper from 488 yards that took down the assassin, but the assassin then fired at least five shots, wounding DJT and killing and seriously wounding others in the crowd.
In my previous job providing diplomatic security in two war zones, you expected to be fired if you didn’t do the basics. Apparently the USSS failed to adhere to the basics of a secure perimeter and their clumsy retreat after the shots were fired left DJT extremely vulnerable to subsequent attacks. It seems they never trained together as these responses should be virtually autonomous. Will there be accountability? That’s not the Washington way.
Unworthy and dishonest people in positions of authority have brought us to this crisis. The determining factors in hiring and leadership should be merit and ability to execute alone, not today’s social engineering priorities. Sadly, nothing in Washington reflects that anymore. DJT is right to question the ability of those who protect him, because they failed yesterday on nearly every count. Nature abhors a vacuum, so there are always other options. What matters most is that we come together as Americans to hold proper, valid elections and get back to what matters: a meritocratic society where we judge people on character and skill. Nothing else.”
