Colorado Secretary of State Jenna Griswold told CNN’s “Outfront” on Friday that former President Donald Trump is “one of the greatest dangers to this country.”
“Preparations are underway tonight for Supreme Court oral arguments on whether Trump should be removed from Colorado’s ballot. Colorado’s Secretary of State has now formally announced his position,” Barnett said. She is asking a judge to disqualify President Trump by citing the 14th Amendment. Griswold said: “Our message is very simple: the idea that the state can prevent insurrectionists who have broken their oath from appearing on the ballot, and it is a clear statement. I imagine their questions will focus on how the Constitution relates to state law.”
She went on to say, “I have always believed that Trump incited the insurrection, but regardless of my personal beliefs, the courts have determined that his actions disqualified him under Section 3 of the 14th Amendment.” It was clear that we were going to have to decide if we were going to reach that level.” And the Colorado Supreme Court took extra time to consider all of the district court’s findings, finding that he had engaged in an insurrection, and then deciding that the Constitution applied to the president. Donald Trump has no get-out-of-jail-free card for insurrection. And to be honest, I think they made the right decision. ”
Griswold added, “Donald Trump incited the insurrection. It was just part of his strategy to steal the 2020 election from the American people. I think he should be held accountable. And… He is a clear threat to this country, both in the other cases you talked about tonight and in this one. I believe he is one of the greatest dangers to this country.”
